Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Police reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Officers report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then located multiple other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.

An important official said the attack made him without words and required to be resolved rapidly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the murder of nine victims by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
